1) Due to the location of the shafts in the middle of the canal, all of the spoils from the shafts had to be loaded onto a spoils barge and floated over to the shore for unloading.
2) The crane manufacturer, American, limits the amount of boom that can be placed in this crane to 120’ when it is working on a barge. As you can see in this picture, the steel cage is close to 100’ long and is near the limit of what the HC 110 Terex crane can handle with this amount of boom in it. Hats off to Dellingers' crane operator for making 8 safe and successful picks of the steel into each drilled shaft.
3) After the drilled shafts were completed, the next step on this project is to pour the strut. This strut serves two purposes; it ties the two shafts together strengthening them and secondly it serves as added protection for the bridge in case a barge or boat were to hit the structure.

4) The next step is to pour the columns up approximately 35’ to the bottom of the cap and, as you can see here, The crew has started forming the cap that supports the beams.
5) Two crew members are excited about the chance to work together again. One crew recently started working on this project to help the other crew. Can you see the love?
