1) This crew is installing the forms for the end bent and checking grades. In the past, the DOT did all the layout on the job, however, it is now a pay item and our crews are doing the layout.
2) The crew is building the floor of the cap for the bent beside the river. This cap was difficult to build since the bottom was so close to the ground, the crew had to actually dig out below the cap so that they could have enough room to work.
3) Currently this crew is between jobs and is helping another crew get this project started. This job in Alamance County has “Tower Bents” and requires struts to be welded between the piles.

4) This crew is cutting, fitting, and welding the struts in place. This is a very time consuming task that requires several people to finish. Member of one crew work off the barges while the operator works the crane.
5) The center 2 spans of this bridge had girders that were 100’ long. We decided to use 2 American 5299 cranes to set these beams in place. In order to get the truck in position, the work bridge was used to drive the trucks across the creek. Once the cranes got the beam hooked up and lifted it off the truck, the truck drove out of the way and the cranes walked the beam into position.
